Planning an Australia holiday from Singapore in 2027? The first thing most people ask is how much to budget, and the flight is only part of the answer.
Your total depends on the kind of trip you take: a relaxed week in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne together, a Great Barrier Reef add-on, a family holiday with children, or a premium private trip. Each lands in a very different range.
Singapore travellers have plenty of options. There are direct flights to Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Darwin, so you can build anything from a short city break to a multi-city holiday. If you’re looking for a customised Australia holiday from Singapore, Tailwinds Travels can help you build the itinerary around your preferred pace, accommodation and experiences
As a rough guide, a 7-day trip costs about this per person:
| Travel style | Estimated cost per person* |
|---|---|
| Budget | S$1,800–S$2,500 |
| Comfortable | S$2,500–S$4,000 |
| Premium | S$4,500–S$7,000+ |
*Planning estimates including international flights, accommodation, meals, local transport and selected activities. Actual prices vary by destination, dates, hotel category, flight availability and exchange rates.
For context, Tourism Australia reported that Singaporean leisure travellers spent an average of A$3,650 per trip in 2024. At roughly S$0.91 per A$1 (September 2026 exchange rates), that is around S$3,320. It is a historical benchmark, not a promise about 2027 prices.
Before getting into the details, here’s a useful way to think about your 2027 Australia budget.
Flights: S$350–S$900+
Hotels: S$600–S$1,500+
Food: S$350–S$650
Local transport: S$100–S$300
Activities: S$150–S$600+
Visa: Additional cost depending on visa type
That puts a typical 7-day holiday somewhere around:
for a comfortable trip, before significant luxury upgrades or expensive multi-city domestic flights.
The biggest variable is your travel style and itinerary.
A week in one city can be considerably simpler than trying to cover Sydney, Melbourne, the Great Barrier Reef and the Gold Coast in the same trip.
Flights will probably be one of your biggest upfront costs, and Singapore has good air links with Australia. Tourism Australia lists direct services to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide and Darwin, operated by airlines including Singapore Airlines, Qantas, Scoot and Jetstar Asia.
Some 2027 fares are already on sale. Scoot currently shows these returns for selected February and March 2027 dates:
Other listings show Perth from about S$300+, Melbourne from S$320+ and Sydney from S$360+ on selected dates. These are promotional fares that can change or disappear, and extra fees may apply, so read them as snapshots rather than standard prices.
For planning, use these return airfare budgets:
| Destination | Approx. return airfare |
|---|---|
| Perth | S$350–S$700+ |
| Melbourne | S$400–S$850+ |
| Sydney | S$450–S$950+ |
| Brisbane | S$500–S$1,000+ |
| Cairns | S$550–S$1,100+ |
Premium cabins cost far more.
Singapore’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel levy for origin-destination passengers applies to flights departing Singapore from 1 January 2027. Tickets and services sold from 1 October 2026 are already subject to it. The levy shows up as a separate line in the fare breakdown, so when you compare 2027 fares, look at the final price and not just the headline ticket price.
Accommodation is where budgets tend to move the most. Australia has everything from hostels and simple apartments to boutique hotels and luxury resorts.
Budget Your Trip’s current traveller-spending data puts average hotel spending at about A$108 per person per night when sharing a room, or about A$215 for a typical double room. At roughly S$0.91 per A$1, that is about S$98 per person, or S$196 per room. Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Cairns and resort areas can look quite different from that average.
| Hotel category | Approx. room per night |
|---|---|
| Budget / simple hotel | S$100–S$160 |
| Comfortable 3–4 star | S$160–S$280 |
| Premium 4–5 star | S$280–S$500+ |
| Luxury | S$500–S$1,000+ |
Peak periods push these figures higher still.
Look beyond standard hotel rooms. Depending on the destination, an apartment, serviced apartment or family room can cost less than booking several conventional rooms.
If you’re travelling with children, you may also want to explore family holiday options designed around suitable accommodation, transfers and activities.
Food is another place where your travel style matters. Budget Your Trip’s traveller data shows visitors spend about A$87 per person per day on food, which is roughly S$79 at S$0.91 to A$1.
A rough daily budget per person looks like this:
| Eating style | Per person per day | What it looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Budget | S$35–S$50 | A mix of cafés, casual restaurants, supermarkets and takeaway |
| Comfortable | S$60–S$100 | A mix of cafés, restaurants and casual dining |
| Premium | S$120–S$200+ | Fine dining, premium restaurants, wine experiences and special meals, which can push this much higher |
Food and wine also draw Singapore travellers. Tourism Australia says 21% of Singaporean leisure travellers see local flavours as an important part of their ideal Australian itinerary, including vineyard tastings, farm stays and traditional Aboriginal food experiences.
It depends heavily on your itinerary. In central Sydney or Melbourne, public transport covers most sightseeing. Once you travel between cities or explore regional areas, costs rise, and you may need airport transfers, trains, trams, buses, taxis, ride-hailing, rental cars, domestic flights or private transfers.
Budget Your Trip’s current traveller data puts average local transport spending at around A$46 per person per day. That average covers travellers with very different itineraries, so don’t treat it as a fixed daily requirement.
This is one of the biggest budgeting mistakes people make. Australia is huge.
Flying from Singapore to Sydney and back is one thing. Singapore → Sydney → Melbourne → Cairns → Singapore is a very different budget, because visiting several regions may mean adding several domestic flights. That is why a 10-day multi-city itinerary can cost a lot more than 10 days based in one city.
A simple rule: with 5–7 days, stick to one main region. With 8–10 days, two destinations work well. From 12–14 days, you have room to start combining regions.
You don’t need to spend heavily on attractions every day. Beaches, coastal walks, national parks, markets, city neighbourhoods, scenic viewpoints, public gardens and some museums and galleries are free or cheap.
Some famous experiences do add up. A Sydney Opera House guided tour is currently around A$50 per adult when pre-booked, based on 2026 pricing. A Great Barrier Reef trip from Cairns can run to several hundred Australian dollars depending on the tour: current listings include options from A$255+, and a Green Island and Outer Reef combination is listed at around A$343 per adult for 2026–27.
If your trip includes a few major experiences, allow around S$150–S$600+ per person for activities over 7 days. Luxury private experiences cost much more.
Putting it all together:
This suits travellers who find promotional airfares, stay in budget accommodation, use public transport, stick mostly to free attractions, eat at casual restaurants and focus on one destination.
This usually covers return flights, good 3–4 star accommodation, restaurants and cafés, airport transfers, public transport, several paid experiences and a comfortable sightseeing pace. For many Singapore travellers, it is a useful planning range.
This could include premium flights, 4–5 star hotels, private transfers, premium dining, private tours, wine experiences, premium excursions and more personalised sightseeing. Luxury resorts, business class or private touring can take the total well beyond this.
Couples have an advantage because they can share accommodation and private transfers. A comfortable 7-day holiday for two might look like this:
| Expense | Estimated cost for 2 |
|---|---|
| Return flights | S$900–S$1,700 |
| Hotel | S$1,100–S$1,900 |
| Food | S$800–S$1,300 |
| Transport | S$250–S$500 |
| Activities | S$400–S$1,000 |
| Estimated total | S$3,450–S$6,400 |
This is a planning range, not a package quotation. A couple choosing premium hotels and private experiences could easily exceed it.
For families the maths changes. Flights become a major expense, though accommodation and transfers can work out more efficiently with good planning.
A comfortable 7-day family holiday could fall around S$7,000–S$12,000+ for four people. The final figure depends on children’s ages, room configuration, flight dates, destination, domestic flights, car rental, attractions and dining style. Apartments or family-friendly resorts are worth considering instead of booking several hotel rooms.
Ten days gives you a lot more room to work with. Here are three combinations that fit well.
A classic first Australia holiday. Spend 4 nights in Sydney and 5 in Melbourne. Possible highlights include the Sydney Opera House, Bondi and coastal walks, the Blue Mountains, Melbourne’s laneways, the Great Ocean Road and the Yarra Valley.
A more relaxed Western Australia trip, with 4 nights in Perth and 5 in Margaret River. It suits couples and families, and anyone after food and wine, nature, beaches or road trips.
A good option if you want both a city and the tropics: 4 nights in Sydney and 5 in Cairns. You could combine Sydney sightseeing, the Blue Mountains, the Great Barrier Reef, rainforest experiences and Port Douglas.
If you’re considering driving rather than flying between destinations, our Australia Road Trip Guide for Singaporeans covers the basics of planning a self-drive holiday.
No single destination works for everyone, so start with the kind of holiday you want.
A shorter escape with beaches, nature and road trips around Western Australia.
Food, culture, cafés, shopping, art and the Great Ocean Road.
The natural choice for a first visit, with iconic landmarks, beaches and city experiences.
The pick if the Great Barrier Reef and tropical Queensland are your priorities.
Beaches, theme parks and a relaxed Queensland holiday, which works well for families.
Food, wine and regional experiences.
Tourism Australia also notes that Singapore travellers are increasingly interested in regional areas and customised private travel, not just the major gateway cities.
There’s no single cheapest month. Airfare and hotel prices move with Singapore school holidays, Australian school holidays, public holidays, Christmas and New Year, major events, weather, flight capacity and hotel demand.
Tourism Australia notes that Singapore’s key travel periods include June and November–December, and its key booking periods include April–June and October–December.
If your dates are flexible, compare several weeks rather than searching one set of dates. And don’t automatically take the cheapest airfare. A slightly more expensive flight can sometimes unlock a better hotel rate, a more convenient departure time or a better itinerary.
Yes. Singapore citizens need a valid Australian visa before travelling.
For short tourism or business visits, you can apply for the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), subclass 601, through the Australian ETA app. Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that an approved ETA is valid for one year and allows multiple visits of up to 90 days each.
The ETA service charge is currently A$20. Australian visa charges can change, so check the official fee information and requirements again before you travel.
Don’t budget only for the big items. Leave room for coffee, snacks, shopping, local markets, tips where applicable, extra transport, optional experiences and the unexpected.
It helps to split the budget into three buckets:
That makes it easier to see where the money is going.
You don’t have to make the holiday cheap to manage the budget better.
Compare several dates and destinations. Perth’s fare pattern can differ from Sydney’s, and Melbourne may be cheaper on particular dates.
Fewer hotel changes mean fewer transfers, less lost sightseeing time and less packing and unpacking.
You don’t need a paid attraction every day. Pair one major experience with beaches, walks, markets and neighbourhood exploring.
A kitchen helps cut food costs, particularly with children.
Popular tours and premium experiences can sell out in busy periods.
This is probably the most important one. Don’t plan a route that has you flying back and forth across the country. A well-planned route saves both money and time.
If you want a single number, these are the per-person ranges for a 7-day trip:
For a couple, a comfortable 7-day trip comes to roughly S$3,500–S$6,500+. For a family of four, S$7,000–S$12,000+ is a reasonable starting range.
Your actual cost depends on where in Australia you go, when you travel, how many cities you visit and the level of accommodation and experiences you choose.
It depends on the itinerary. A simple 4–5 day city break is fairly easy to arrange on your own. Once you start combining Singapore → Sydney → Melbourne → Great Ocean Road → Cairns → Singapore, planning gets much harder. You have to coordinate international and domestic flights, hotels, airport transfers, tours, car rentals, travel times, visas, travel insurance, family requirements, dietary requirements and activity reservations.
At that point a customised itinerary can make more sense than booking each piece separately. Tourism Australia reports growing demand among Singapore travellers for customised small private groups, including families, multigenerational groups and friends.
Instead of starting with a fixed package, start with what you want from the trip. A few examples:
Let the itinerary fit the time you have, rather than trying to squeeze every famous Australian attraction into one trip.
Australia is more than a checklist of Sydney, Melbourne and the Great Barrier Reef. Your trip might be a family road trip, a romantic escape, a food and wine journey, a luxury city break or a private adventure through Western Australia. What it costs depends on which one you choose.
At Tailwinds Travels, we build customised holidays around your travel style, pace, accommodation preferences and the experiences you want, rather than fitting you into a fixed itinerary.
Tell us where you want to go. We’ll help you figure out the rest.

It can be, particularly for accommodation, dining and premium experiences. The total varies a lot with your destination, hotel category, flight dates and itinerary.
A reasonable planning range is S$2,500–S$4,000 per person for a comfortable 7-day holiday, including flights, accommodation, food, transport and selected activities.
A comfortable 7-day trip for two could run S$3,500–S$6,500+, depending on flights, accommodation and experiences.
A family of four could budget about S$7,000–S$12,000+ for a comfortable 7-day trip. Children’s ages, accommodation and activities can change the total a lot.
Perth often has competitive fares, and current 2027 listings show particularly good Perth prices on selected dates. The cheapest destination does change with travel dates, airline promotions and availability.
Yes, as long as you stick to one region or two closely connected destinations. Australia is too big to cover several distant regions properly in a week.
Ten days gives you a lot more flexibility. Sydney and Melbourne, Perth and Margaret River, or Sydney and Cairns all work well.
No booking window is guaranteed to give the cheapest fare. Compare several travel dates, and book when your preferred flights and hotels come together at a price that works for your budget and itinerary.
